Cooking Sausage Patties in the Oven
Last year I talked about Bakin' Bacon and how it's the cleaner and quicker method to cook bacon for a crowd. Well I tested this theory with sausage patties as well, and it worked great. I love not having to clean grease splatter from my stovetop! The method is easy, I started with a hot oven and finished them off in the broiler to get them brown and crispy.
Sausage Patties in the Oven
Original Recipe
Sausage Patties
Foil
Rimmed Baking Sheet
Preheat the oven to 425 F. Line a baking sheet with foil and arrange the patties on the sheet so they are not touching each other (use a second sheet pan if needed). Bake the sausage for 10 minutes, then flip each patty and rotate the baking sheet back to front. Bake for 10 more minutes, then broil for 3-4 minutes until the sausage is browned to your preference.
Love this idea! Thanks for the tip!
ReplyDeleteI think that baking breakfast meats is the only way to go. A greasy stove is such a pain!
ReplyDeleteAny suggestions for how to lesson grease splattering all over is an awesome one for me!
ReplyDeleteI'm moving into an apartment with no exhaust-fan in the kitchen (the building is really quite retro), and I'm going to try this in hopes that this method will not broadcast as much greasy smoke into the air. That was bad enough of a problem when I had a place *with* an exhaust-fan in the kitchen!
ReplyDeleteMake sure to watch the sausage during the final 3 minutes. Mine caught fire and wasn't pleasant.
ReplyDeleteYikes! Good reminder for everyone though, especially because ovens can vary greatly when it comes to broiling. As a general rule, you really have to pay attention to anything in the broiler.
DeleteTrying this tonight on top of frozen veg pizza. Probably won't flip the patty but do it long enough to do it fully, extra couple minutes under broiler. Oh and some spinach thrown on near the end to see how it comes out. Spinach being wet will allow it to get all textured. Side of new half sour pickle & multi-grain Tostitos with your beverage of choice.
ReplyDeleteThanks a bunch...cooking them in the top burners make such a mess, this will be my go to from now on.
ReplyDeleteWorked great! Thank you.
ReplyDeleteI'm severely disabled, so any way of cooking that doesn't require me standing over it (such as boiling or oven cooking) is a plus. Thank you SO much for this.
